A Product Gone Wrong

For my birthday, my mother got me this very beautiful box that contained a delicacy of makeup. At first site, my eyes lit up, and I became a bit flushed from excitement. However, I put it away, because I was trying to clean and reorganize my room, and completely forgot about it! When I took it out again, I decided to give myself a tiny makeover to see how it felt.

Let me just first start off by saying that I am a skeptic when it comes to putting on makeup that I have never tried before, but I usually give it a practice run before I decide to go out in the world and show my beauty. The brand my mom bought for me this time is called Lorac. I personally have never heard the name prior to receiving my gift, but my mother assured me that it was a good brand.
So, today was the day that I gave a trial run, and the trial run failed miserably!

I first took it out of its packaging, and found out that the sparkly box made me sparkly all over. That is a number one no no in my book. I HATE when I get all those sparkles on my skin, hair, and clothes. The second mistake came when I saw that the bronzer was a tad bit dark for my skin. When I first put it on, it made my face turn an ugly sort of uneven brown. I was absolutely horrified. I love a nice "glow" as much as the next person, but this color made my face look like an oompa loompa...

My next step was to put on some eye shadow. There were two different palettes, so I decided to try the night palette on my right eye, and the day palette one my left eye. I was hoping for a nice sultry look from the night palette, and an elegant light look for the day, but I was sadly disappointed by the outcome.

The night palette went on harshly; it didn't glide like my other eye shadow brands, like Urban Decay. I went for a white layer on the bottom, a gold for the top, and a silver/gray for the outside. I then proceeded to blend them all together, but they wouldn't blend! Half of my eye looks like night, while the other half looks like day. I then put on the black eye liner that was included, but it took me 7 tries before a little bit of the black went on. It kind of hurt my eye, because I had to press down hard in order for the color to be seen.

I then moved on to my left eye. For the day, I love wearing natural colors like brown. I first put on a peach/off-white on the bottom, a light brown on top, and a dark brown on the outside, then finished off the look with brown eyeliner. Guess what happened? It came out way too light. All of the colors I put on barely even show up! Another thing, the eyeliner turned out to be black, even though the color specifically says brown.

The last few things I did then was put blush on, and lip-gloss. I put a pink blush on the right side of my cheek, and a coral on the left. The blushes were fine; they just didn't give off a very visible color. The lip-gloss, however, was true to its name (Rose). I will admit that the lip-gloss was the best thing out of the box, and I don't even like lipgloss. I don't usually wear it, and I don't think I ever will, so for me, the gloss is a waste. Overall, my satisfaction rate for Lorac is a 1 out of 5 stars. Maybe it's just this box that was really awful, but who knows!

Oy Vey, what an adventure my face went through today. What awful makeup experiences have you had?
